“YOU MATTER”

We sure did not see this coming. Maybe some scientists predicted or even spoke about the possibility, but the majority of us never imagined that we would be facing a pandemic in our lifetime. Covid-19 has had devastating effects on people all across the world.

So, is this really the end that so many feared was coming? My answer is “no.” When the pandemic started, I never believed that the end was near. Instead, what I believe is that the world as we know it is ending. For too long darkness has plagued this earth. But…the time is, now, that finally there is a shift. The Light has returned and will overcome the darkness.

Earlier this year Pope Francis said, “COVID-19 is not God's judgment, but a call to live differently.” He added, “It is not the time of your judgment, but of our judgment: a time to choose what matters and what passes away, a time to separate what is necessary from what is not. It is a time to get our lives back on track…."

With that said, starting today, how will you live differently that years from now when you look back at your life, you will say, “This is why my life matters”?

PUTTING YOURSELF FIRST SHOWS THE WORLD THAT “YOU MATTER”

So many of my clients are struggling with putting themselves first. They perceive this as being selfish. However, putting ourselves first is an absolute necessity for both our personal and spiritual growth. If we continue to meet everyone’s needs, taking for granted our own needs, we actually delay taking the necessary steps to fulfill our purpose in life. We, unconsciously sabotage our purpose, derailing ourselves from our chosen path, missing out on the blessings that God has intended for us! Then, we are stuck!

So, what are some examples for putting yourself first?

1. Practice daily self-care by taking care of our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. “I Matter.”

2. Setting boundaries with others by clearly communicating what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. “I Matter.”

3. Learning how to say “no” without guilt or regret. “I Matter.”

4. Letting go of toxic, unhealthy relationships. “I Matter.”

5. Stay in the moment, no longer living in the past nor the future. “I Matter.”

6. Shifting all negative thoughts to positive thoughts. “I Matter.”
